Insurance Coverage for Addiction Treatment
If money is tight, don’t let that stop you from getting the help you need. There are options to make treatment more affordable.
1. Insurance Coverage for Addiction Treatment
First, check if your health insurance policy covers substance abuse and mental health treatment. Many major insurance providers offer coverage for inpatient and outpatient rehab. Call the number on the back of your insurance card and speak to a representative about the details of our policy. They can walk you through what’s covered so you know exactly what to expect cost wise.
Some treatment centers also offer insurance verification services to review our benefits for free. Take advantage of these to gain clarity on your coverage before starting treatment.
2. Payment Plans
Ask if the treatment center offers comet plans of financing. Many places will allow you to pay for treatment over time with fixed payments, rather than paying the full amount upfront. Terms may vary but this can make the cost much more manageable.
3. Sliding-Scale Pricing
Some rehab facilities offer sliding-scale pricing based on your ability to pay. You pay what you can afford based on your Income and expenses. The center may charge some clients less while charging others more. Ask if the place you’re interested in offers this option.
The important thing is that you get help. There are always solutions and people here to help you through the process. Take that first courageous step.

At this time, we do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.
Medicaid/Medicare
If Medicaid or Medicare is your only insurance option, don’t lose hope. There are still ways to get the help you need.
Medicaid covers both inpatient and outpatient treatment for addiction and mental health issues. Once approved, you will have the access to detox, counseling, therapy, and medication-assisted programs. The quickest way to find treatment that accepts your coverage is to call the number on the back of your Medicaid cards. They can walk you through your options and help find a facility with availability.
Medicare also provides coverage for addiction and metal health treatment. They cover detos, inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization, outpatient treatment, counseling, and medication. However, Medicare typically only covers up to 190 days of Inpatient psychiatric care in your life time. The good news is Medicare Advantage plans and Medigap policies can help fill in coverage gaps and lower out-of-pocket costs.
If cost is still a concern, don’t lose hope. Many treatment centers offer payment plans to make the cost of treatment more affordable. You may also be able to lower the total bill by only doing a partial inpatient or outpatient program.
Out-of-Pocket
Out of pocket means you’re covering the full cost yourself. While it may seem daunting, many rehab centres offer payment plans and financing to make the process more affordable.
Installment Plans
Rehab centers understand that paying the entire cost upfront isn’t feasible for most people. Many offer installment or payment plans that allow you to pay a portion of the total bill each month over 6-24 months. This reduces the financial burden and allows you to focus on your recovery. Speak with the admissions team about setting up an installment plan and the details, like down payment amounts, interest rates, and payment frequencies that work for your budget.
Third-Party Financing
If paying out-of-pocket or installment plans aren’t options, rehab centers may offer third-party financing through companies like CareCredit. CareCredit is a credit card specifically for healthcare expenses like addiction treatment. They offer fixed interest repayment plans so you know exactly now much you will pay each month. While interest charges do apply, it provides another avenue for covering treatment costs if needed.
The most important thing is accessing the treatment you need. Don’t let the cost of rehab stop you from getting help.
